Comfort Spacer Layer
We designed JOBST Relax using a special knitting technique that creates a Comfort Spacer Layer. This feature gives JOBST Relax the right balance between fabric thickness, cushioning and breathability. Moreover, it is provided with extra moisture management properties.
What are the different compression classes?
Compression garments come in different compression classes, ranges, or levels. This description differs between regions or countries. In Germany, for example, the so-called RAL-GZG standard is dividing compression garments into four different compression classes from mild to very strong compression or class I-IV. The exact pressure of each compression garment is usually specified in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and varies according to medical necessity.
It is not always useful to assign a specific compression class to a certain condition, therefore Healthcare Professionals will make individual decisions on the suitability of a certain compression level for each patient. This is usually based on the clinical condition itself, the patient’s tolerability for compression, additional conditions, and further individual needs.
How to use the product
How to apply JOBST Relax for the arm:
- Fold the upper part over more than half of the garment.
- Pull the garment over your arm. The seam should be in line with your thumb to ensure the correct positioning of the garment.
- Unfold the upper part of the garment. If needed, flip it back down to be able to pull on the material double layered.
- The arm sleeve fits correctly when it covers the arm evenly without forming creases and when the seam is in line with the thumb. Check that the elbow is positioned correctly (see slim lines in elbow part).
- To take off the arm sleeve first open the zipper (if present), fold the upper part downwards and gently pull on the hand / wrist.
How to apply JOBST Relax for the leg:
1. Fold the upper part over half of the garment.
2. To don the garment, ensure that the heel pocket is facing downwards and then pull the garment with both hands over your foot all the way to the heel.
3. Fold the lowest part of the garment back again until you see the heel section.
4. Take hold of the folded edge of the garment and start pulling it over your leg, always holding the garment at the sides and never at the seam. Work the garment all the way up to the knee, smoothing the creases as you go up.
5. Check the position of the knee and heel.
6. For thigh high, flip over the upper part of the garment and back to pull it double layered up your thigh. Stretch the last part evenly until it ends below your crotch.
7. Close the zipper (if present) and adjust toe and heel areas for comfortable fit.
- The leg sleeve fits correctly when it covers the leg evenly without forming creases and the seam runs straight in the center back of the leg. For knee high, the garment should end 1 – 2 cm below the knee bend.
- To take off the leg sleeve first open the zipper (if present), then fold the upper part downwards and back and pull gently on the double layered material.
Tip: A shoehorn with round edges may be of help when doffing the garment. Pull the garment down as much as possible, slide the shoehorn between the fabric and the heel and then stretch it over your heel.
Other recommendations: The easiest way to wear your JOBST® Relax garment is to always fold it and grab both layers when pulling it up. This will give you a better grip and avoid overstretching the material.
